Welcome To Our Blog!

We are pleased to announce our first baby will be brought into this world around October 28, 2011! This is my first attempt at making a blog, so please bear with me through the process. This seemed like the perfect place to document it all, so here goes nothing!

The Children's Museum

We took our first trip (probably of many) to The Children's Museum this past weekend. Alexa was a little too young for most of the stuff, but we met up with Ben and Graham (and their parents!) - so it was fun watching the older kids check stuff out too. It's a really cool place... so much to do and to look forward to as Alexa gets bigger. We had a good time catching up with Matt, Emily, Karen, and Joe - parents need some interaction and "grown up" talk time too! Here are some pictures:

4 Month (Self) Photo Shoot

We got a fancy new camera from my parents for my birthday, so Aaron thought we should have a "photo shoot" for Alexa's 4 month birthday today.  We were both off work so it worked out well.  She was in a great mood too which was very helpful, and we didn't have to go anywhere but right upstairs! Here are some of the shots (I think we did a pretty nice job if I do say so myself)!!

Love those stickers

Colds, Supplementation, Solids, and Valentine's Day

Alexa has had a cold for about a week now, and her little hoarse voice is the saddest (but cutest) little sound! We thought maybe she had an ear infection, so I brought her in to the pediatrician yesterday. She did not have an ear infection, but it turns out she has only gained 4 oz since her 2 month visit! She went from the 75th percentile to the 25th percentile in weight. So, long story short, we are giving her more ounces when she takes a bottle, and I am having to supplement with some formula after feeding her if she still is acting hungry. The fun news is we have been given the okay to start feeding her some solids too! I am so excited because my mother generously got us the baby bullet, and I think it will be fun to make foods for her and for her to start eating stuff other than milk. I will definitley post a picture when we give her the first bite of rice cereal. She has her 4 month visit next week, so hopefully she will gain a little weight over this week. We will see! Last, Alexa celebrated her first Valentines Day. On the 13th I dressed her up and we made dad dinner and dessert. I had to work on Valentines Day evening, so she was at daycare in the afternoon and got her first valentine from her teacher, Ms. Monique. It was very sweet :) Here are some pictures!

Catching Up

Mmmm, I am not sure where to start, so this blog post may be a little jumbled! Alexa has been doing great at daycare. They tell us she is an easy baby and enjoys her time there. Aaron and I also really like her caregivers which is obviously huge when you are trusting others to watch after your child! She did get sick 2 days after starting daycare though. She got the stomach flu, and although she did not throw up too many times, you could tell she was not her usual happy self for most the weekend. And I also got the stomach flu... on my birthday!!! So, it was quite the memorable birthday, for not the best reason though. But that's okay, I am just glad she did not get too sick from it!! Other than that, things are good around here. Alexa is changing everyday, both physically and socially! She is so much fun. She has started to giggle which is by far the most adorable sound I have ever heard. I absolutely love it! And it's great that I get to make a complete fool of myself and there is someone who actually laughs at it :-) She is getting stronger too. She doesn't hate tummy time quite as much as she used to, but she definitely does not love it yet. Here are some pictures to round out the post!

3 Months!

Alexa is 3 months old today! She is growing so fast. And I just noticed that she is looking off to the right in all 3 of these pictures... there must always be something really interesting over there. Maybe next month I'll get her to look to the left! And it is also her second day of daycare! She got great reports from her first day, so I am hoping to hear more good reports today. It definitely helps ease my mind knowing she is in good hands and having fun :)

Roll With It!

Alexa officially rolled over today! We had done tummy time on the bed up until a few weeks ago, and decided we needed to move to the floor because the bed was too soft and not giving her enough leverage to lift herself up. She had rolled over twice on the bed, but she had not done it for a couple months. But today on the floor she rolled over twice! She scared herself both times, and the pouty lip came out with some tears, but we are hoping she continues to do it and gets used to it. We are loving the milestones! And the best part is we were both home to witness her do it :)

Alexa's First Christmas

We headed back to Kentucky for Christmas this year. It was a fantastic trip and Alexa got to meet lots of family! She met her other grandparents, her Uncle(s) Will and Andrew, Great Aunt Rosemary, Cousin(s) Sara, Garrett, Austin, and Jacob, plus significant others. She had already met her Uncle Kris, Aunt Rachel, and cousin Chloe, but it was great to be able to visit with them again. We stayed at my parents farm in Henry County, about 30 minutes outside of Louisville, so for the most part we just visited with family. We did get into Louisville a few times for lunch, a Cardinals basketball game, and to visit with friends. Alexa did great on the plane ride both ways. Overall, it was a very successful trip and we all had a great time. Here are some pictures:
