Baby "Shower" Week One
As I mentioned in the last post, my cousin Sara has come up with a very fun idea to shower Aaron and I with gifts up until the week baby is due! Per her request (and I think it's a great idea as well!), I will be posting the weekly gifts on the blog. Week one gift is from Sara, Rosemary (my aunt), and Jenny (my cousin Jake's wife). Their letter was B, so they got us a bunch of bathtime stuff! Very cute! We cannot wait for baby girl to take her first bath. We got the tub we registered for, Aveeno bath products, baby washcloths and hooded towels, and our safety kit which includes bathtime stuff such as combs and brushes. It was so fun opening it all up today! This whole idea is really going to get us so excited for the baby to come. Thanks again for organizing this all Sara!! Here is a picture of week one baby gifts:

I Cannot Believe It's Already July!!!
And mid July too! Time is flying with this pregnancy! We are very excited for arrival of baby girl in the fall, but it is surreal to think that in a few short months we are going to be PARENTS. Mom and Dad. Crazy! Anyhow, here a few updates from this month. I had a doctor appointment yesterday which went great. My cervix still looks good and she could not detect any abnormalities with the baby's heartbeat. Yay! And I am happy to say that I had a dentist appt on Monday too, and I did not have any cavities. I was concerned I was going to have one (or even two) with the amount of sweets I have been eating lately! Other than that, things are good with baby. She moves all the time, and we have been able to see her moving now too. It's so funny when my stomach just pops out!! I could stare at it for hours.
Aaron and I went to Rocky Mountain National Park this past weekend. We had a great time getting outside in the fresh air, and walking around Estes Park as well. And we went for a short hike with our friend Treasure (and her dog Cinder) on Sunday. It was great getting back out in the mountains again!
We have been very busy preparing for baby girl Sanford. Aaron built a baby "closet" for her, and we picked out paint for the room. It's a light green, and I think it's going to look great once it's all done. We will post pictures when this happens! And we have been busy with registries and deciding what we need for her arrival. I would rather have everything done now rather than wait until the last minute... it's just the way I work! I am a planner at heart :)
Finally, I want to send a huge THANK YOU to my cousin Sara for putting together such a fantastic plan for Aaron and I. Since we will not make it home for a baby shower, she has arranged for our family and friends from our home towns (and a couple other places) to send us weekly baby shower gifts. So we will be "showered" from here until baby's arrival! Such a fun plan, and we are so very appreciative. We will be posting the gifts on here weekly so stay tuned! First one should arrive by the end of the week.

June 30th Dr. Appt
Another short but sweet update. I had another doctor's appointment yesterday (yes, I told you I have been going almost weekly) - and the great news for now is my doctor could not hear or see anything abnormal with the heartbeat at this time!! She said if she had not been updated by the other doctors who have seen me she never would have known she was having PACs. So that is great news for now, and I am hoping that they do not reappear at future appointments! As I mentioned in another post, most babies grow out of these abnormal heartbeats, and it looks like this may have happened for us. Fingers crossed! Cervical length looks just fine too. So things are going great! Also - I am going off orientation on Monday. I have been working on my own and taking patients the entire time I have been there, but now I will be "officially" off orientation. This does not mean I don't have plenty of help around though. I really do enjoy my colleagues!
Until the next 2 week appointment... or maybe sooner if I have something to update! Happy 4th!

2 Fun Updates
1. Aaron finally felt a definite kick! He thought he has maybe felt them in the past, but I could never be sure if it was or not. This time though I felt the kick, and before I could even say something Aaron said he felt something too. So that's exciting!
2. Aaron has finally agreed to the name I have been pulling for! I still would like to go in with 2 names, so we will still be browsing around... but it's exciting that we at least have one we can agree on!

Lots of Updates!
It's been awhile since I have updated the blog, I know. So this is going to be pretty long, sorry! I kind of took a hiatus, but we have had a lot going on! Aaron was gone fishin' with the boys for a weekend, then my brother and Chloe came to visit, then we were in Louisville for Eleanor's wedding... and now we are starting to really get ready for baby!! We have lots to think about with the upcoming addition to the family - from nursery, to making space, to registering, just lots and lots to do. But we are very excited! Okay, I will write some updates first, and then I will post some pictures for your enjoyment :)
First off, I have been very busy with doctor's appointments. My doctor has been following me closely, watching the length of my cervix but all looks great at this point with my cervix. Nothing to worry about so far! I literally have had an appointment almost every week for the past couple months. We had our big 20 week "anatomy" appointment last week. We already knew the baby is a girl, but we were able to view lots of other structures which was a very cool experience. We did find out at the appointment that she is having PACs (premature atrial contractions), so we were referred to a pediatric cardiologist just to make sure all is well. Both doctors confirmed that the structures of the heart look great, but she still was having the PACs at the cardiologist appointment today. Basically, we were told most babies grow out of these premature beats before birth, and there is a very, very, very small chance that it will turn into any kind of problem. The way the doctor phrased it today was good. He said, "There is more of a chance that I will hit a home run in the World Series than these beats turning into any sort of problem." So that is reassuring anyways, although I am already a nervous mom and would prefer these beats to go away now!! My regular OB will be listening to the fetal heart rate at future appointments and will continue to monitor her, but at this point I do not have to go back to the cardiologist (and definitely do not plan to go back either)! So, the other good news is that my father has seen this pretty often in other women and their babies, and he assured me that it really is a non issue at this point. I do love that my dad is in the medical profession! It has definitely come in handy over the years! Okay, that is the update on the PACs for now. I will continue to update the blog with more updates as they come along.
As far as feeling the baby moving goes (I actually feel it now, she must know I am writing about her), I am definitely feeling the "flutters" quite often at this point! She is an active little thing, especially when I am trying to sleep at night, or when I am working. It is such a strange sensation... it's like a little mini tap on the inside of my stomach. It's so cool and strange all at the same time! Aaron thinks maybe he has felt a couple of these flutters, but there has not been a definitive kick to this point. I am anxiously awaiting the kicks and being able to see the baby move in my stomach though!
Okay, I have been asked numerous times already about a name for her, and the answer is no, we do not have a name picked out at this point. We are really struggling with this process, but we will get there! I have an all time favorite at this point, and believe me, I am feverishly working on convincing Aaron it's the best name ever! The plan is to go in with 2-3 names picked out, and once we meet her, we will decide and at that point, let everyone else know as well.
Okay on to me now! Am I showing? Yep, I sure am! I cannot even hide it under my scrubs anymore either! I have had a few patients and their family members ask about my growing belly. And I even had one patient rub on my belly! It was very sweet though.... since I am in rehab we get to know some of the patients pretty well, so it was totally comfortable when he helped himself to a rub. For the most part, I have been very lucky though. I really have not gained weight besides my stomach, and I have been feeling great. My back does hurt after a day on the job, but nothing too terrible. I got a special little support belly thing to wear, and so far it has helped some with the back pain. Other than that, things are great. The job is going well - I really am starting to become much more comfortable and I love the patient population.
Aaron is doing great, and has been very supportive in this process. I know he is super excited to paint the nursery and build some baby shelves. And the best part? I get a free pass out of painting due to my delicate condition. Haha!! No painting and no cat litter. Yep, you bet I am taking full advantage of this :)

Baby Update
Sorry, no pictures this time. Just me rambling away! I have a 16 week appointment coming up in a week and a half, but I went to the doctor today because I was having some stuff going on yesterday which I was concerned about. My regular doctor was not available again, so I saw the other partner of the group who I met last appointment. I was just as impressed with him this time as the last... he really is very thorough and takes the time to explain things to you.
Based on the appointment today (and despite my concerns), all looks great which was very reassuring! I am gaining weight and my blood pressure looks great. The doctor thinks my body was either fighting off a virus/bacteria, or I am just having more extreme "growing pains." We started off listening for the baby's heartbeat, which we were easily able to find. Then he did another ultrasound on me, which I was not expecting, but I was nonetheless excited to be able to see the baby again! The baby was in full motion today, squiggling and wiggling all around! It was hard to catch good pictures because of all the movement, but it was so neat because he focused in on the spine, abdomen, head, legs, and the femur bone for me. Aaron asked me after if he was able to tell the sex yet, but my pregnancy brain did not even think to ask!! I am assuming not because I would think he would have said something?! Anyhow, I did find out my placenta is on the back of my uterus, which is apparently a good thing because my friend Courtney tells me I will be able to feel movement earlier this way (which makes sense!). I felt some weird "popping" last week which I could convince myself was baby moving, but who knows! The HR was around 130, but I did not actually see the exact length of the baby. I will tell you this though, it is HUGE compared to the first ultrasound we had! I couldn't believe how big he/she has gotten. Anyhow, so I may or may not have another appointment next week... 14 (Almost 15) Weeks - 2nd Trimester!!

As the title of this blog post says, I am almost 15 weeks in this picture. I have officially entered the second trimester now. I can hardly believe that I am through the first trimester already! This pregnancy sure is going fast! I am completely out with my pregnancy announcement (I even made a facebook post about it), and it feels great to be talking about it with everyone and no longer keeping this big secret. It's such an exciting time in our lives and it's nice to share it with all our family and friends!
In other big news, I started my first nursing job on Monday. I am super excited to be a working girl again, besides, I did work extremely hard over the past couple years to get to this point! I owe a ton of thank you's and love to my family and friends for all the support they have given me, and of course I owe the biggest shout out to my wonderful husband Aaron. This week I am in classroom training, and as of next week I will start on the floor working with patients. I am not going to lie, it has been a tough week getting back into the swing of things (and especially with being pregnant on top of it!) - but I canont express how grateful I am to have landed this job. And it's funny (but actually kinda frustrating) how incredibly hungry I have been since starting work!! I know I was never a growing teenage boy, but I feel like that stereotype of how much they eat. I literally have a snack every hour and still find it hard to satisfy my hunger!! I literally think I can feel my stomach growing too. I am definitely starting to show!! Anyways, I am looking forward to the next few weeks of working with a preceptor and really learning the ropes. I will keep the blog updated with the progress of the job and of course the baby!
